Review of the Playmill Theatre

Summer 2006

With several of my kids very much into theatre in High School, it was only natural for us to visit the two local Theatres.  I had heard good things about the Playmill in years past but this was the first year I had my family with me and took the time to find out for myself if what I heard was true.  I was not disappointed.

My wife and I first went to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.  I had never seen this before, so other then the Biblical store, I had no idea what to expect.  We had hoped to go to the 6:00 show, but by the time I got off work at 2:00 and drove to West Yellowstone to buy our tickets, they did not have any seats together, so we had to fall back and attended the 8:30 performance.  Let this be a warning, get your tickets early even for a week day show.  The program was great, the crew did an outstanding job, and I was amazed.  I can and have highly recommended their performance to others asking what there is to do in the area.  I only wish that I had saved this one for last, as at this time I have yet to see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and when I took the family to see Forever Plaid, what can I say, the performers did a wonderful job but the show itself is not of the same caliber as Joseph's was.  That's not to say that Forever Plaid was not a great performance.  The actors did a wonderful job, there was just no way that the two can really be compared.  Don't take what I am saying wrong, I would still recommend seeing Forever Plaid, but if you had to chose between them, I would recommend Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.
